Professional athletes are paid millions to play games. Why are they such beacons of boorish behavior?
Disrespect insubordination and misogyny are the norm with the sports pages filled with tales of drugs gun fights rapes dog fighting and all manner of crime.
I extolled the virtues of Stephan Marbury and his $14.95 basketball shoe to my youth basketball team only to have Mr. Marbury brag of his limousine “sexcapades” (during Isiah Thomas’ sexual harassment trial) and walk out on his team before a game this week.
Sharon Stoll a professor at the University of Idaho has spent her career studying the values and morals of elite athletes and concluded that a great many jocks are deficient in moral reasoning which governs honesty fairness and responsibility.
“In sport we have moved away from honorable behavior,” Stoll contends with more emphasis on winning at all costs and material rewards.
Stoll operates the and adds that. “The environment of athletics has not been supportive of teaching and modeling moral knowing moral valuing and moral challenge,”
The main goal in her work with college and professional teams is to get athletes to consider two questions: Is it honorable? Is it responsible? “If you can’t answer yes to both questions you better move and go in another direction,” Stoll says.
Isn’t that or shouldn’t that be normal human behavior? I know I am not the only parent who repeated that mantra or some variation to their children.
I notice a large number of athlete’s pointing to the sky after a great play or thanking God for a good win. While an acknowledgement of the Father in their words is welcome it would also be nice to see more of a Christian walk in their deeds.
From everyone who has been given much much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much much more will be asked.~~ Luke 12:48 (The Message)
O Adorable Lord of Mercy and Love!Thou art Omnipresent. Omnipotent and Omniscient. Thou art the Indweller of all beings.
Grant them an understanding heart,Equal vision balanced object,Faith devotion and wisdom. Grant them inner spiritual strengthTo resist temptations and to control the object. Free them from egoism lust greed hatred anger and jealousy. Fill their hearts with divine virtues.

Sexual misconduct by a psychiatrist is akin to sexual abuse by a priest-it is a colossal betrayal of trust by a person privy to intimacies not shared with others-someone in a position of far greater cater and authority than the victim. In the UK sexualized behavior between a psychiatrist and "a person with mental disturb impeding choice" is a criminal offense since 2003. The penalty if convicted is up to 14 years in prison. [] The rationale being that the psychiatrist knew or could reasonably be expected to know that the patient's mental disorder may impede her / his ability to exercise free choice. In the U. S the modus operandi for dealing with psychiatrists who sexually abuse patients is a wall of conquer and institutional cover-up. On Oct. 14. 2007 the Boston Globe reported that after a year and half of stonewalling Harvard Medical School and its teaching hospital. McLean "is publicly facing the fall-out from one of the more tawdry chapters in its nearly 200-year history." It involves the "spectacular downfall" of Dr. Jack M. Gorman. "just a few months [after] he came to take on one of the most influential jobs in mental health care." []The Globe notes that "for more than 16 months both sides kept the whole episode change intensity," saying only that Gorman had left McLean in May 2006 for undisclosed "personal and medical reasons." [] The current version (Oct 14) being promulgated by officials at Harvard Medical educate. McLean Hospital and Partners HealthCare the corporate parent that owns Harvard University's three affiliated teaching hospitals--Mass. command. Brigham & Women's and McLean-states: "One Monday morning in April 2006. Dr. bring up M. Gorman new president of McLean Hospital in Belmont simply stopped showing up for work. For days increasingly worried hospital officials didn't experience what had change state of their leader until finally a family member answering a label at his New York City domiciliate revealed that Gorman was in a hospital intensive care unit being treated for an ailment that the person wouldn't show.""In reality," the Globe reported. "Gorman stopped coming to work because he overdosed on antidepressant pills after his patient distraught over Gorman's act to Massachusetts hired a lawyer and threatened to subject their relationship according to people directly involved in the case. Though the pills hadn't killed him. Gorman needed weeks in the hospital to recuperate from serious gastrointestinal problems."On Oct. 10 the Globe reported that Dr. Gorman's New York State license had been suspended indefinitely for a minimum of six months with a 5 -year probation period requiring the supervision of another doctor. A spokesperson for the NYS Department of Health stated: "the board believed that the sexual communicate occurred outside New York State but she would not say whether it took place in Massachusetts." [] However the Oct. 14 version acknowledges Dr. Gorman's sexual misconduct with a New York patient who threatened to file a complaint. Partners HealthCare the parent company of McLean announced that it had conducted a analyse of Gorman's apprise tenure "to reassure express regulators that he had not sexually abused patients there."On Oct. 17 the Globe reported that Dr. Gorman had "permanently surrendered his right to practice medicine in Massachusetts today ending a state investigation that began last year when officials at the renowned psychiatric hospital.. reported allegations that he engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a patient in his New York learn." [] Underscoring the gravity of his action the spokesman for the Massachusetts come in of Registration in Medicine stated. "When you resign your right to renew you can never change surface attempt to get your authorise back." Furthermore he said Gorman's resignation "would be entered into national databases that accept potential medical employers to check doctors' backgrounds."Inconsistencies in these varying versions raise suspicions:
Surely the go and subsequent fall in abase of a prominent psychiatrist who held top positions at premier academic institutions including. Harvard. Columbia and New York State Psychiatric Institute (the State's leading mental health research center from which he was forced to resign for failure to disclose his corporate income in 1999) -deserves careful scrutiny. But as we noted in Feb. 2007 in a case involving sexual misconduct by another psychiatrist affiliated with a Boston hospital. "this is not an isolated inspect. A long-established grow at psychiatric institutions shields professional staff who exploit on vulnerable patients." [] The Globe reported that "many people connected to McLean feel betrayed." Officials at Harvard-Partners-Mclean who for 16 months covered up the scandal must address their lingering questions such as: "How could they have hired the doctor in the first place? And why didn't they communicate up earlier about Gorman's misconduct?" Financial conflicts of arouse in academic psychiatry undergo corrupted professional integrity and moral standards:What are the standards of "scholarship" in academic psychiatry? What are the required qualifications for promotion in academic psychiatry? What are the qualifications for departmental chairs and/ or endowed chairs in psychiatry? What if any qualifications does the President of a Harvard affiliated teaching hospital need to meet? What breeches of professional / moral conduct by psychiatrists are covered up by their professional peers and publicly supported institutions?Case in inform: Dr. Trey Sunderland former Chief of Geriatric Psychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) who was convicted of criminal contrast of interest serving as a highly-paid consultant for Pfizer for work that overlapped his duties as a highly paid full-time public servant at NIMH. A Pfizer spokesman indicated that Sunderland "received honoraria for consulting and educational activities that were reasonable and customary for an expert of his stature and expertise." [] his direction. Sunderland's staff provided Pfizer with 3200 vials of human tissue they had collected from spinal taps performed on NIMH patients with Alzheimer's. [] Sunderland was criminally convicted (Dec. 2006) and fined $300,000. However moral and criminal violations not withstanding. Dr. Sunderland desire Dr. Gorman (and others) continues to apply the mantle of "authority" bestowed by psychiatry's establishment including the American Psychiatric Association. An APA book co-authored by Dr. Sunderland. (who is listed as "with the National Institute of Mental Health"; Dilip Jeste endowed head in Aging distinguished Professor UC San Diego; and Darrel Regier. Executive Director of the APA was published in April. 2007. [2] Many published reports in psychiatry are examples of junk science in the service of industry's market expansion goals: Dr. Gorman like many prominent psychiatrists used his high ranking positions in academia and the American Psychiatric Association-as Deputy Editor of the American Journal of Psychiatry-to promote the interests of his pharmaceutical industry backers. He has served as a paid consultant to at least 13 pharmaceutical firms including Forest Laboratories. SmithKline Beecham. Eli Lilly and Pfizer. [3] He was instrumental in expanding the use of SSRI antidepressants for dubious "disorders made to order." [4]Throughout his career. Dr. Gorman's publications-books and articles carrying his name-have been instrumental in promoting the marketing agenda of psychotropic drug manufacturers who provided him with substantial financial support. For example the following unsupportable claim is made in "Prenatal Exposures in Schizophrenia," a book co-authored by Ezra S. Susser. Alan S. Brown and Jack M. Gorman. 1999: "In recent years evidence has emerged that early and sustained intervention with antipsychotic medication can reduce the duration and severity of schizophrenic symptoms. Now by identifying events during pregnancy that displace the fetus at assay for developing schizophrenia and taking steps to prevent them the outlook for decreasing the morbidity and perhaps change surface the incidence of schizophrenia has never been more promising." [] That claim is refuted by a growing body of evidence confirming that these drugs fail to improve either the course of illness or recovery. What's worse antipsychotics change magnitude mortality by inducing the metabolic syndrome: "those with the syndrome have a two-to-threefold increase in cardiovascular mortality-and a twofold increase in all-cause mortality." These drugs pose life-threatening risks for adults and children. [5]Dr. Gorman was instrumental in promoting anxiety disorders such as SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder) and GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) as well as "Compulsive Shopping Disorder." He conducted Carbon Dioxide inhalation experiments in which dread attacks were deliberately induced in adults and children. See for example. "Differential Carbon Dioxide Sensitivity in Childhood Anxiety Disorders," Arch Gen Psychiatry. 2000. 57:960-967. [] Prior to obtaining approval for the expanded use of the antidepressant Paxil for social phobia-social anxiety disturb (SAD). SmithKline Beecham hired the PR firm. Cohn & Wolfe to orchestrate a promotional race that would circumvent a federal law prohibiting the promotion of a drug for unapproved use. The company promoted a condition-"Imagine Being Allergic to People"-rather than the drug. Posters bearing the insignia of the Social Anxiety Disorder Coalition [6] a company financed group were plastered at bus shelters nationwide proclaiming. "You blush sweat shake--even find it hard to breathe. That's what social anxiety disorder feels like." [4]
Dr. Gorman was the race's prominent psychiatrist who made the rounds on behalf the Paxil for the SAD media campaign. He was featured in a widely circulated video produced by Cohn & Wolfe appearing with a patient on numerous television shows including ABC's Good Morning America. "It is our hope that patients will now experience that they are not alone that their disease has a name and it is treatable." In 2001 he appeared on TV on behalf of Paxil for the GAD media campaign. The same year. Dr. Gorman who by then had moved from Columbia to the faculty of attach Sinai educate of Medicine penned his name to a pivotal study for plant Laboratories for whom he served as consultant. The chew over was used to promote its new look-alike antidepressant. The chew over co-authored by Forest employees is the only published report claiming that Lexapro (Escitalopram) the company's new look-alike antidepressant offers an advantage--"may have a faster onset"--than Celexa (citalopram) its best selling drug whose patent was running out in 2004. [7] Melody Peterson of The New York Times reported that Forest paid to have the chew over published in two venues: in CNS Spectrums a medical journal that Dr. Gorman edited and as a special add for which Forest paid Medworks Media. Forest promoted the "study" at the American Psychiatric Association conference and at numerous conceive of dinners it sponsored for psychiatrists who were paid to attend. [8] Other researchers disputed Gorman's conclusion. The Medical earn a nonprofit newsletter respected for its independence from the pharmaceutical industry reviewed the same clinical trials as Dr. Gorman and concluded in September that Lexapro had not been shown to be better than any other antidepressant including Celexa. Similarly an analysis by Drs. Staffan Svensson and Peter Mansfield. Escitalopram: Superior to Citalopram or a Chiral Chimera? [9] identifies numerous methodological flaws. For example. Dr. Gorman and his plant co-authors failed to disclose adjunctive treatments; the sampling method and whether or not the consume obtained represents the population; number of exclusions and refusals; compliance assessment; adverse effects; and withdrawal rates by group. Academic Hucksterism:Blatant conflicts of interest that undermine the credibility of this study are replayed repeatedly in what passes as "research" in psychiatry primarily because most treatments in psychiatry lack scientific evidence of efficacy. [10] Brendan Koerner reported in Mother Jones [4] that bring up Gorman appeared on Good Morning America to discuss yet another "hidden epidemic"-- "Compulsive Shopping"-for which he predicted. SSRI antidepressants would "almost certainly" be prescribed. ABC host. Charles Gibson told viewers that the "condition" could affect as many as 20 million Americans. 90% of them women. Dr. Gorman who presents himself as an "expert" on psychiatric drugs was clearly not deterred from promoting these drugs change surface for dubious "disorders"-despite evidence that SSRI antidepressants such as Paxil and Lexapro were shown to have a twofold increased risk of suicidal behavior compared to placebo. [11] Patient safety has clearly not been much of a calculate in Dr. Gorman's promotional activities. In 2002. Dr. Gorman helped organize a conference aimed at fourth year medical students who would be prescribing drugs. Forest paid the tab to fly one student from each medical educate in the country to New York for a two-day conference at Columbia. Students were treated to two nights at the Plaza Hotel three meals a day and tickets to a Broadway show. Intramed coordinated the event shuttling students and helping speakers with their presentations. Dr. Gorman gave a presentation on his Lexapro study during a speech about antidepressants. He said the conference's intend was to get medical students interested in psychiatric research and in residency positions at Columbia not to promote Forest's drugs. In 2005. "Mood Disorders in the Medically Ill: Scientific Review and Recommendations" [12] co-authored by a group of prominent academic psychiatrists who have been sharply criticized for serious ethical violations-including. Dr. Gorman. Dr. Thomas Laughren. FDA's director of psychiatric products. Dr. Charles Nemeroff and Dr. Trey Sunderland. [13] The report published in Biological Psychiatry lists some of the authors' copious conflicts of arouse. The recommendations were formulated following a conference underwritten by manufacturers of anti-depression treatments: Abbott Laboratories; Bristol-Myers Squibb; Cyberonics; Eli Lilly; Forest Laboratories; Glaxo-SmithKline; Janssen Pharmaceutica; Organon; Pfizer Inc.; Wyeth. The recommendations such as "Screen for depression in all medically ill patients," were crafted to give the appearance of legitimacy to the expanded off-label use of antidepressants for patients NOT diagnosed as being depressed. Incredibly. FDA's director of psychiatric products-endorsed recommendations encouraging the off-label use of antidepressants. His duty as a public official is to enforce a law prohibiting the marketing of drugs for off-label uses. Sexual misconduct and suspension of medical license-undisclosed:
change surface as his sexual misconduct led to permanently losing his medical authorise in Massachusetts and losing his NYS license indefinitely. Dr. Gorman's powerful supporters in the psychiatric establishment in New York continue to provide the diffuse of professional respectability. By failing to disclose his misbehavior they are not only protecting him but looking the other way about all manner of ethics and professional standards. RELIEF a mental health referral organization focusing on individuals in the orthodox Jewish community lists Jack Gorman. MD as a prominent member of its Medical Advisory Board. He is identified as President and Psychiatrist in Chief. McLean Hospital. [14]The organization held what it termed. "a significant event" on June 18. 2007 at which "sixty five of the country's leading psychiatrists and psychologists" assembled to learn about Jewish culture and the role it plays in the effective treatment of mental disorders in the Orthodox community. "Dr. Jack Gorman. M. D. one of the most prominent psychiatrists in the U. S today officiated and addressed the crowd. He stressed the importance of mental health professionals being culturally sensitive and aware of their patient's religious needs." Dr. Gorman's sanctimonious statements about "the importance of mental health professionals being culturally sensitive and aware of their patient's religious needs," won't kill the dye of his sexual misconduct with patients. Another website pronounces (August 2007): "few psychiatrists are more prominently respected" than Jack Gorman. [] The attach Sinai Department of Psychiatry continues to list Dr. Gorman at: []None of these websites nor the reissued publications tell that Dr. Gorman's medical license has been revoked. Instead they enumerate his defunct academic positions-thereby misinforming the public. BOSTON GLOBE reports (to be posted on the AHRP blog shortly): A doctor's downfall. Dr. Gorman's reissued books. 2007: A revised edition of "A Guide to Treatments that Work," a textbook co-edited by Gorman and Dr. Peter Nathan was first published by Oxford Press. 1998 was reissued in April. 2007. The intend of this book is to influence professional practice. The publisher's promotional ads express that the book is directed to psychiatrists psychologists clinical social workers counselors and mental health consultants. The promos affirm that the book "brings together outcome data and clinical trials to show what works and what doesn't." bring up M. Gorman is described as. "The Essential Guide to Psychiatric Drugs," first published by St. Martin's Press in 1990 is being reissued in Dec.2007. The schedule is touted as "an indispensable resource for the layperson and professional alike." It is publicized as: "completely updated to include the latest drugs and investigate. Information on six new antidepressants similar to Prozac including. Paxil. Effexor. Wellbutrin." The book is endorsed by the APA and prominent psychiatrists. Herbert Pardes MD: "This schedule.. meets a critical need for millions of people for whom psychiatric drugs are so important." Carl Salzman MD. Director of Psychopharmacology. Harvard Medical educate: "An outstanding book about these drugs for the non-physician." A third book. "Comprehensive Textbook of AIDS Psychiatry" (2007) Edited by Mary Ann Cohen and bring up M. Gorman promotes the use of psychotropic drugs for AIDS patients by making unsubstantiated (patently absurd) claims: "Among the vast and rapidly growing field of AIDS research there is an ample body of evidence supporting the fact that psychiatric treatment can decrease transmission."
Forest promoted the "study" at the American Psychiatric Association conference and at numerous fancy dinners it sponsored for psychiatrists who were paid to be. [8] Other researchers disputed Gorman's conclusion. The Medical Letter a nonprofit newsletter respected for its independence from the pharmaceutical industry reviewed the same clinical trials as Dr. Dr. Gorman and his plant co-authors failed to disclose adjunctive treatments; the sampling method and whether or not the sample obtained represents the population; number of exclusions and refusals; compliance assessment; adverse effects; and withdrawal rates by group. Academic Hucksterism:Blatant conflicts of interest that undermine the credibility of this study are replayed repeatedly in what passes as "research" in psychiatry primarily because most treatments in psychiatry lack scientific evidence of efficacy. [10] Brendan Koerner reported in Mother Jones [4] that Jack Gorman appeared on Good Morning America to discuss yet another "hidden epidemic"-- "Compulsive Shopping"-for which he predicted. SSRI antidepressants would "almost certainly" be prescribed. ABC host. Charles Gibson told viewers that the "condition" could alter as many as 20 million Americans. 90% of them women. Dr. Gorman who presents himself as an "expert" on psychiatric drugs was clearly not deterred from promoting these drugs even for dubious "disorders"-despite bear witness that SSRI antidepressants such as Paxil and Lexapro were shown to have a twofold increased risk of suicidal behavior compared to placebo. [11] Patient safety has clearly not been much of a factor in Dr. Gorman's promotional activities. In 2002. Dr. Gorman helped organize a conference aimed at fourth year medical students who would be prescribing drugs. plant paid the tab to fly one student from each medical school in the country to New York for a two-day conference at Columbia. In 2005. "Mood Disorders in the Medically Ill: Scientific analyse and Recommendations" [12] co-authored by a assort of prominent academic psychiatrists who have been sharply criticized for serious ethical violations-including. Dr. Gorman. Dr. Thomas Laughren. FDA's director of psychiatric products. Dr. Charles Nemeroff and Dr. Trey Sunderland. [13] The report published in Biological Psychiatry lists some of the authors' copious conflicts of arouse. The recommendations were formulated following a conference underwritten by manufacturers of anti-depression treatments: Abbott Laboratories; Bristol-Myers Squibb; Cyberonics; Eli Lilly; plant Laboratories; Glaxo-SmithKline; Janssen Pharmaceutica; Organon; Pfizer Inc.; Wyeth. The recommendations such as "Screen for depression in all medically ill patients," were crafted to provide the appearance of legitimacy to the expanded off-label use of antidepressants for patients NOT diagnosed as being depressed. Incredibly. FDA's director of psychiatric products-endorsed recommendations encouraging the off-label use of antidepressants. His duty as a public official is to enforce a law prohibiting the marketing of drugs for off-label uses. Sexual misconduct and suspension of medical license-undisclosed:
Even as his sexual misconduct led to permanently losing his medical license in Massachusetts and losing his NYS authorise indefinitely. Dr. Gorman's powerful supporters in the psychiatric establishment in New York continue to provide the mantle of professional respectability. By failing to disclose his misbehavior they are not only protecting him but looking the other way about all manner of ethics and professional standards. RELIEF a mental health referral organization focusing on individuals in the orthodox Jewish community lists bring up Gorman. MD as a prominent member of its Medical Advisory come in. He is identified as President and Psychiatrist in Chief. McLean Hospital. [14]The organization held what it termed. "a significant event" on June 18. 2007 at which "sixty five of the country's leading psychiatrists and psychologists" assembled to learn about Jewish grow and the role it plays in the effective treatment of mental disorders in the Orthodox community. Dr. Gorman's sanctimonious statements about "the importance of mental health professionals being culturally sensitive and aware of their patient's religious needs," won't kill the stain of his sexual misconduct with patients. Another website pronounces (August 2007): "few psychiatrists are more prominently respected" than bring up Gorman.
Superior Court Judge Robert Ervin ruled that North Carolina death row inmate Glen Edward Chapman is entitled to a new trial based on ample evidence that he was wrongly convicted. adjudicate Ervin said that law enforcement officials withheld evidence used false testimony and misplaced or destroyed important documents that could undergo supported Chapman's innocence claim. The adjudicate's order also revealed that Chapman's defense attorneys did not adequately be him during his trial and that expert testimony direct disbelieve that one of Chapman's alleged victims. Yvette Conley was murdered at all. The testimony indicated that Conley may have died of a drug overdose. "The notion that a defendant can be put to death when no crime in fact occurred is troubling at best," wrote adjudicate Ervin after holding a series of evidentiary hearings examining Chapman's innocence claims. Chapman was sentenced to death for the 1992 murders of Conley and Jean Ramseur. At first prosecutor Jason Parker offered Chapman a plea negociate because "it wasn't the world's greatest case," but Chapman insisted that he was innocent and wanted to alter himself in act. Judge Ervin noted that among the covered-up evidence supporting Chapman's innocence claim was a watch who said he saw a man with Ramseur on the night of the murder who was not Chapman. Prosecutors also concealed a report that a jail inmate had confessed to Ramseur's kill. The judge explained that Chapman's attorneys did not undergo access to the report because a detective perjured himself at Chapman's original trial and his testimony during evidentiary hearings was "not credible."One of Chapman's attorneys. Frank Goldsmith noted. "After 14 years.
Portland guard Officer Jason Faulk accused of having sex with an autistic woman while on duty was arraigned Friday afternoon on two counts of official misconduct.
The Nov. 9 arraignment serves as formal sight to Faulk. 33 that he is the affect of a pending investigation and led to a judge placing him under the supervision of Multnomah County's pre-trial services program. As the Portland Tribune revealed on Nov. 2 an autistic woman in her late 20s who is described as "emotionally challenged" has accused the 10-year veteran of taking advantage of her.
Reportedly the evidence against Faulk includes a Walgreen's pharmacy security video showing the police officer with the woman apparently paying for a "morning after" pill to prevent pregnancy. Official misconduct is a crime defined as using one's official lay for personal benefit. The DA enter called an "information," said the two counts occurred on or about July 25 and Aug. 16. The grand jury deliberations could conclude as early as next week. It is still unclear whether Faulk ordain be charged with second-degree sexual abuse which would be on a finding that the woman is mentally deficient and without the ability to consent to sex. Faulk who had been stationed in Central Precinct was placed on leave Sept. 11 after an investigation was initiated by the police bureau's sexual-assault detail.
According to the bureau in June 2006 Faulk successfully completed Critical Incident Training to help officers recognize and broach with mentally ill subjects.
Hire Victor Calzaretta and act your chances with a bench trial if the Grand Jury finds a "True Bill" if and only if you are truly innocent. Good samaritans as well as Black Sheep feature many different uniforms in this city...
"Imagine that yet another crooked cop abusing his cater over the helpless."
How go it is perfectly acceptable for someone to pre-judge all cops with these kind of statements? We are talking about a few people in an agency of 1000 cops!
Folks some of the people that are posting comments on this story are not who they be to be - they have many screen names and like nothing more than to degenerate the issue. The Grand Jury has not yet found a "adjust Bill" against Faulk so let's give it a few more days. If this PPB officer is guilty he will do some time and if not let's be thankful that we live in the US. There might be more to this story so let's not be so quick to persecute and act based on the media.
I hope all the evidence that could show a pattern for this write of behavior has a chance to raise it's continue. This officer should not be on the street and I am ashamed for him and sympathetic for his family and his victims. This is not a judgement this is fact from experience.
if these cops are so darn squeaky alter clean and innocent then why is he being charged with misconduct folks?what you cop lovers disappoint to get is obviously they undergo more than enough evidence to charge him with misconduct and conclude that he will be convicted in court if they felt he was so innocent and didnt have certain proof of misconduct then he would not have been charged with misconduct folks wake up and stop defending these pathetic cops like they are so innocent.
Hey Vantress get back in your cell. All cops are bad because one cop is bad? All inmates in confine or prison are bad because on inmate in jail or prison is bad. But then you undergo never done anything wrong undergo you? It is just a huge government/police conspiracy against you isn't it? They have nothing else to do except bedevil you.
PPB isn't the only agency with problems... there are plenty of other metro area police agencies that undergo corrupt administrations supervisors who lie and committ Official act on a regular basis to benefit themselves at the depreciate of others lives. They don't care because the system they designed works for them to defend them! The system is corrupt folks not just some cops! It is the system the unions and the administrations that either allow this misconduct to go on and prosper within a police organization or permit false allegations to be made against officers and order Internal Affairs investigators to bear on the allegations by whatever means necessary... change surface if it means threatening populate using coercion falsifying police reports and watch statements or change surface paying witnesses money to say what they want them to say!! Do I hear Official Misconduct again??? They undergo been getting away with this for years and unfortunately DPSST is in bed with most of them. They have the power to change the system but they refuse to because the system doesn't affect the people who designed it just the others who get subjected to it's alter and malicious actions.
How is NEGRO not authorise? Ever heard of the United Negro College finance? Seems that it is just fine since that is used on the radio and television and pamphlets etc. I also think that calling black folks "colored" is book too because.. ever heard of the NAACP? The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People? And if the word "black" is inappropriate since nobody is really "black" then it should be removed from all government documentation. (I think you should be more concerned about the word n*gger considering it is used by just about every color music artist actor and anyone who uses the MAX that is under the age of 30 to refer to each other.)
PWFlak has always supported and condoned the very worst criminal conduct of cops. I can understand someone defending the profession but when you get a guy that consistantly sticks up for the filthyest scum bags out there giving law-enforcement such a bad label you undergo to wonder what their real motivation is. I've seen this guy suggest that it is OK to injure unarmed naked and badly injured people and walk free. Kinda makes you wonder what makes some people go. My granpa was a cop and I know he would roll over in his grave if he had any idea what a eat law=enforcement had become.
"Harry Skelliton" is one of the few that has about 35 different check names by now that loves nothing more than to darken the issue with pablum and has been turned into the webmaster so many times that he can't use his real check label anymore and can't get the screen name of legitimate people spelled alter. He will go up with a different check name and post something that has nothing to do with the inspect at hand. Must have been arrested too many times to see straight ahead...
"am left wondering too" - The "Brotherhood of the Strong" is a figment of the media's imagination and if you can create a finding of fact and not hearsay let me know. Garbage in produces garbage out and it looks like "Harry Skelliton" found his 36th screen label.
What ever happened to guilty till proven innocent. I bet the people that undergo already gotten on the guilty bandwagon also believed Mike Nifong had an air tight inspect. Or that Richard Jewel was also guilty. Only a moron would accept guilt based on a story in the media.
It amazes me that people like "pwflak" ordain mainly comment on the contents of other posts rather than affix a comment on the article which would be the topic at hand--not the motives or express of mind of the posters.
As someone who knows this command all I have to say is they are missing some history evidence that would help in this case. I hope it gets past the grand jury enough to have to dig that far. Anyone who knows the way relationships bring home the bacon in.

When Mike Nifong reported to jail Friday to answer a 24-hour sentence in Durham. N. C. a small bind of die-hard supporters carried signs that said. "We accept in your integrity and goodness." I wonder if they believe in the tooth fairy too.
Every wicked man is right in his own eyes the schedule of Proverbs says. But that doesn't convey that the rest of us should cheer him on.
Nifong is the former Durham County district attorney who brought the notoriously bogus assail case against three Duke University lacrosse aggroup members a rape inspect that turned out to have no assail.
So far the only person to be convicted of anything is the prosecutor. A breathtaking list of procedural abuses led to his disbarment resignation and prosecution. The abuses included the withholding by his office of DNA bear witness for more than nine months that proved the three athletes' innocence.
I hope Nifong spent his night in the pokey thinking about the young lives he ruined. I also wish he thought about the voters he flimflammed along with a national audience all so he could be reelected in his 40-percent black govern and maximize his award.
That narrative comes through with painful clarity in a new book. "Until Proven Innocent: Political Correctness and the Shameful Injustices of the Duke Lacrosse Rape inspect," by Stuart Taylor a National Journal columnist and Newsweek contributor and KC Johnson a history professor at Brooklyn College and CUNY.
Taylor and Johnson were early skeptics of Nifong's case. Their schedule offers a chilling portrait of how the criminal justice system can nail and punish the innocent. Usually the innocent are poor people who lack the money connections or other resources to attach a proper defense. In its concluding chapters the schedule recounts several striking examples of poor blacks and Hispanics in particular who were sent to death row but later released as a prove of misconduct by prosecutors.
But it was the racial and socioeconomic lineup in the Duke case — upscale color male students accused by a poor black female stripper — that excited passions in a different ideological direction.
For some petitioners and op-ed writers the jocks provided too convenient a aim as symbols of color male hegemony runaway testosterone and every other agenda that could be hung on them like tree ornaments. Voices as varied as The New York Times and CNN feature Nancy Grace come in for a well-deserved skewering here.
Think about it. If any institutions should be engaged in the critical reasoning that it takes to care for situations like these it is the media and college professors. The university of all places should teach not only good ideas but also the rational thinking that leads one to a lifetime of producing good ideas.
It is important to say the solid journalism that did occur even if it failed to undergo much of an force during the months in which Nifong's freight instruct surged ahead. Besides Taylor there was the late Ed Bradley the CBS reporter who died before the charges were dismissed. "60 Minutes" producer Michael Radutzky and MSNBC's Dan Abrams. Each courageously pursued the growing holes in the case despite unsubstantiated countercharges by die-hard critics.
Take heed of the lessons left by Nifong for we are not likely to see his likes again soon. Prosecutors are rarely punished for breaking the rules that insure a defendant receives a fair trial. A 1999 Chicago Tribune investigation for example open 381 murder convictions nationwide that were reversed since 1963 because prosecutors withheld bear witness or manipulated witnesses to lie. Yet not one of those prosecutors was publicly sanctioned or disbarred. The Center for Public Integrity an investigative journalism assort found similarly disturbing results after looking at more than 2,000 reversals of criminal cases from 1970 to 2003.
"This entire undergo has opened my eyes up to a tragic world of injustice I never knew existed," said Reade Seligmann one of the three accused Duke students. He and his teammates were fortunate to undergo the resources to fight back. Most defendants don't. That's all the more cerebrate for those of us who believe in justice to scrupulously avoid pursuing personal agendas at the depreciate of the truth no matter how much it may satisfy our preconceived notions.
